Frequently Asked Questions about Window Treatments

At American Blinds and Shutters Outlet, we’re more than just window treatment experts: our Orlando shutter company strives to provide its clients with superior quality customer service. We’re committed to making sure that the homeowners we assist are completely satisfied with both the work we provide and the way that we work with them to achieve their goals. With that in mind, here are a few of the FAQs that we’re often asked by our clients:

How Do I Clean and Maintain my Window Treatments?

How you clean your window treatments is largely dependent on what type of material they’re made from. Some may need to be dusted and spot-cleaned regularly, or even cleaned with a vacuum.

Wood can be damaged by water and soap very easily, but there are other materials that can be completely immersed in soap and water without sustaining any damages. Every material will require its own approach and different amounts of attention. Our interior designers will make sure that you know how to properly care for yours.

We also offer professional drapery cleaning, so if you need assistance with cleaning, we can make sure that your window treatments are kept in excellent condition.

Which Treatments are Best for Specialty Windows?

Typically, shutters are going to be the stand-out choice for any specially designed windows, mainly because they can be perfectly sized for the windows. They also have a sophisticated appearance and can complement specialty windows very well. Our professionals can help you find the perfect shutters for any room or any windows.

How Can I Select the Right Window Treatments for My Home?

We know there are a lot of choices out there when you’re deciding on window treatments, and they all have different and specific effects on your home’s appearance and the environment that your interior design creates. That’s what we’re here for. Our interior designers offer free consultations, during which we’ll help you find the perfect window treatments for you, your home, and your family.

What are the Qualitative Differences Between Real Wood and Faux Wood Products?

Wood blinds are typically made from basswood, a hard wood that can be stained very nicely. Cedar and pine are also frequently used, and they have grains and knots that can really add to their aesthetics. Wood blinds will usually come with a warranty that lasts four to ten years, and they can be damaged fairly easily, so caring for them properly is a must.

Faux wood is damaged much less easily, and it can have a look and a feel that’s very similar to real wood. Some faux wood is hollow, but our faux wood panels are reinforced with aluminum to minimize any wear-and-tear.
